Graphical Export Manager
The Graphical Export Manager (GEM) suite of products provides an
interface to exporting multiple parts and/or drawings to multiple formats (IGES, STEP, PDF, TIFF, etc.)
at one time. The resulting files can then be added as attachments to an email message.
The GEM suite of products includes:
GEM Internal
| |
The internal interface allows selection of parts and/or drawings in the currently open part(s)
and/or components of an assembly. After selecting all desired items to export, the data is exported,
and then a results dialog allows the user to examine any export logs, or view export errors.
GEM Internal - PDF only
| |
The PDF-only option for the internal interface allows selection of drawings in the currently open part(s)
and/or components of an assembly to be exported, but only to the PDF format.
GEM Shop Docs Extensions
| |
The Shop Docs extensions are included in the "GEM Internal" product. They allow exporting
drawings and/or parts to all the same formats as GEM Internal, so the output files can be referenced
by a shop docs document or UGPost post.
In addition to the normal "GEM Internal" capabilities, the "GEM Shop Docs extensions"
product also allow retrieval of a layout,
setting views in the layout to shaded, partially shaded, or wireframe, and also to replay the
toolpath, before the data is exported. This way, your HTML Shop Docs document can include a
VRML, STL, or JT image of the
part, a TIFF or PDF image of any drawings, and operation specific views of each operation's path
GEM Client
| |
The GEM Client, together with the GEM Server, allow export of drawings and/or parts outside of Unigraphics.
The client system does not even need to have Unigraphics loaded, (as long as the server is loaded on a system
that has Unigraphics installed) and can be any system with Windows 95 (or later). Part files can be selected
in Windows Explorer, or they can be dragged and dropped on the program's window.
Key Benefits
Allows selection of multiple export formats, for multiple parts, to be exported at the same time.
Allows use of non-Unigraphics systems to submit data for export. E.g., clerical personnel can start the exports.
If Unigraphics is loaded on the system, it allows export without tying up a Unigraphics session.
Allows specification of variants for each export format (e.g. IGES "flavored" for CAD system "A" vs. IGES "flavored" for CAD system "B")
Extends Unigraphics capabilites to give better TIFF exports for drawings (with control of resolution and other factors).
Supports "flattening" for drawings, either by the 2D Exchange product, or by the "CGM Export-Import" method
Extends the graphical export capabilites of Shop Docs and UGPost
Allows creation of PDF files for drawings, including the option that the PDF output for all the drawings is placed in one PDF file.
Automatic attachment of files to an email message.
User customizable specification of output file name and location (including using attribute values as part of the filename)
| |
